What buyers should compare

Compare finished fabric weight, composition, fit, decoration compatibility, MOQ, sample lead time, bulk lead time, private-label support, inspection checkpoints and shipping plan before approving an OEM supplier.

Start with the buying brief

A useful quotation identifies target garment, fabric composition or GSM, fit, colors, size breakdown, decoration, labels, packaging, quantity, destination and required date. Supplying these inputs prevents suppliers from comparing different assumptions.

Choose fabric and construction

For most custom T-shirt programs, buyers compare 180–220gsm commercial basics, 230–260gsm premium or streetwear weights, and 280gsm-plus specialty garments. Confirm yarn, knit, collar rib, seam construction, shrinkage target and finished handfeel on an approved sample.

Compare decoration routes

Screen printing is efficient for repeat graphics and larger quantities. DTG supports detailed art and short tests. Embroidery suits compact premium marks but must be checked against fabric weight. Heat transfer supports names, numbers and specialty films.

Approve fit, labels and packing

Lock the measurement method, tolerances and grading rules before bulk production. Approve neck label, composition and care label, hang tag, barcode, polybag and carton mark files at the same time as the pre-production sample.

Control bulk production

Use the approved fabric swatch, size set and decorated sample as production standards. Check incoming fabric, cutting, sewing, decoration, measurements, labels, packing and carton quantities before shipment.

Plan MOQ and timing

Recommended MOQ starts from 300 pieces per style and color, subject to fabric and decoration. A standard sample commonly takes 7–10 days; bulk production commonly takes 20–35 days after approval. Complex washes, custom-dyed fabric or extensive embroidery require additional time.
